Lisa Kanda is a consultant to the Small Business Development Center at Brookdale Community College since 2011 and has counseled hundreds of small business owners on how to use social media to promote and build their businesses. Read her biography here.

Social Media Bootcamps

An effective way to provide in depth social media training is through Social Media Bootcamps. Lisa has created and facilitated 3 Social Media Bootcamps in 2015 and 2016 for the SBDC that focused on helping business owners create social media strategic plans and also hands-on computer training using LinkedIn and Facebook Advertising.

Lisa was instrumental in the creation and launch of the Small Business Development Center at Brookdale Community College’s new Digital Blueprint Certificate program and teaches the following workshops within the program:

Creating a Social Media Strategy for your Business (3 Hours)
Get your goals in gear with this new workshop! Your business social media strategy should be integrated within your overall marketing strategy. In this workshop, participants will learn how to implement a successful social media program by focusing on goals, appropriate social media channels for target markets, creating social media calendar, implementation and return on investment.  Participants to walk out the door with a strategic social media plan of action.
 
Social Media B2B – Using LinkedIn and Google+ (3 Hours)
Does your business provided products and services to other businesses? LinkedIn and Google+ are social networks that focus on business and professional connections. In this workshop, participants will learn the basics and benefits to creating a presence on these two platforms. An overview of best practices and ample time for Q&A and how to demonstrations will be provided.
 
Social Media B2C – Using Facebook and Pinterest (3 Hours)
Does your business provide products and services to consumers? Facebook and Pinterest are social networks that focus on reaching the consumer and retail markets. In this workshop, participants will learn the basics and benefits to creating a presence on these two platforms. An overview of best practices and ample time for Q&A and how to demonstrations will be provided.
 
Social Media – Using Twitter and Instagram (3 Hours)
Is your business ready to expand its social media reach to include the use of hashtags, microblogging and images? Twitter and Instagram are social networks that focus short messages and images that optimize the use of hashtags for search. In this workshop, participants will learn the basics and benefits to creating a presence on these two platforms.  An overview of best practices and ample time for Q&A and how-to demonstrations will be provided.
 
Introduction to Blogging (3 Hours)
If you already have a website and want to rank higher in search engines, showcase your expertise, and provide education and information to get new customers, blogging is a great way to do just that. In this workshop, participants will learn the basics including blogging platforms, layout and vocabulary; blogging benefits, content creation and creating a blog editorial calendar. An overview of best practices and ample time for Q&A and how to demonstrations will be provided.

Lisa also actively participated in helping the SBDC assist businesses impacted by SuperStorm Sandy. In addition to providing counseling to businesses through Monmouth and Ocean Counties, Lisa assisted in recruiting and awareness building activities by presenting 4 social media workshops at strategic locations in the two counties. Most recently, Lisa presented a full day Social Survival Bootcamp For Business in both Ocean and Monmouth Counties.
